Summer swimming lessons

This summer three little people took to the water. John and Leesie were tadpoles, and Joseph moved to an advanced class. The little ones grew in confidence and surprises us by finally jumping into arms without fear and holding their breath under water. The scariest thing was finding them doing this in the deep bathtub one night, when they dove down and  held their breath about 20 seconds. When they came up with big smiles we knew the water fears were leaving and our fishes were arriving.

The water slide is a special treat for good swimmers at the end of the week.
Last year he went head first, this year he made it down big boy style. Landing in a pretty girl's arms is an extra bonus he seemed to enjoy too.

Joseph went from being in a beginner class afraid of jumping off the low diving board last summer, to diving off the low board and jumping off the high dive this summer.

Then in early August he announced one morning before breakfast he was going to dive off the high dive in lessons.  Mommy was sad since she had to run to the OB instead of lessons. But Auntie brought the camera and sure enough he did it, twice in a row. This summer he learned rotary breathing and improved in freestyle, back stroke, and breast stroke to advance to stroke clinic. We were amazed this confident and eager boy was the same child as last summer. Well in many ways the little boy is definitely gone and the big boy is here.
This boy is 5' tall and yet still 9 years old, wonder how big he'll be in a few years...

Look Mom, I'll help catch her.
So while pregnant Mommy cheered them on, the kids improved their swimming skills and we are so proud of them. Here we are on the last day, with a week to go left in this pregnancy.
