Tadpole lessons

Johnny and Leesie had their first set of swimming lessons without Mom or Dad. They were encouraged to learn to jump, float, blow bubbles, follow instructions, etc. They got to use their noodles and form a noodle train, and learn some basic motions. For a reward for participating the teacher let them go down a gigantic twirling slide at the end of the class period. Well Johnny was the fish, loving the water and being an excellent pupil. He couldn't get enough. For the slide, he earnestly walked up four flights of steps and surprised us all by eagerly going down head first! Joseph and Mommy were stunned, and of course he was delighted.

Annelise got water in her nose the first day, and was scared so she decided she didn't care for her teacher, then cried and sat out of half the lessons. She had a fellow peer in like step also. She finally went in for the whole lesson the final day (on pain of losing privileges, dress up time and some fun baking.) Coincidentally (or maybe not so) the teacher she struggled with sat out that day. So we celebrated everyone learning some skills and had an extra fun day at the splash pad down the street after lessons were completed. With this heat, water in all forms is a welcome comfort.
