Easter Joy

We have had a busy, peaceful, happy, and fun Easter! Both Auntie Lora and Auntie Anna were able to come visit along with Patrick, (an extra treat) and it was a great celebration. Spring has clearly arrived, the buds are blooming, the weather was finally warm, the long winter and lent is finally lifting and we brought out our alleluias that were buried just as nature too was coming alive.
The morning was enhanced by coffee for Mom and Dad, fatigued from the late night before. But the morning was truly full of joy and excitement and the children's faces, were just so, so much fun. They really made us forget we were tired, and feel their own delight in their treats and suprises. They expressed what our hearts felt, joy and happiness, and our bodies were lacking. They loved the gifts in their baskets, and the excitement and celebration of the beautiful Easter liturgy. We loved the beauty, the celebration, and especially being reminded of His coming, and conquering all that can seem dark and final in this world.

Then we came home and ate and had the hunting for eggs inside and out, and the kids could see their sacrifice beans become jelly beans too. We kept reminding the little ones of the reason behind it all: He is risen!!! Death is no longer the victor and heaven was opened. They knew he was crucified on Friday and he had "boo boos" on his hand and feet and sides. There were Alleluias planted around the house to help remind us too. We changed and relaxed in the warm weather. Mom and the little ones napped too, such a gift.
When we awoke a beautiful butterfly came onto the deck and let us almost touch him. We have heard some say they are a symbol of the resurrection, turning from cocoon to a new radiant figure, transformed after their almost deathlike state. So it was fitting to see the first butterfly of spring on Easter day. It is good when creation itself serves to remind us, and help us celebrate the Creator. It is so very good that neither winter nor death shall have the final say. He is risen indeed!
