heart·bro·ken
adjective
crushed with sorrow or grief.
The state of being experienced post election day when one realizes the country one's relatives fought for in wars, and was once great, is being destroyed from within. The state of sadness that comes from observing the results of democracy without virtue, without respect even for our first neighbor, the child in the womb. The nation has again chosen a bag of free contraceptives and nationally endorsed slaughter of the innocent next generation over the freedom, character, and the values we were was built on. My home state has chosen freedom to smoke pot openly, the freedom to mock those who value traditional marriage (since equal rights were in place long ago) and the new freedom to persecute those Christians who uphold the rights of the weak and marginalized, and who desire to do no harm. How far have the citizens of America come, who now live and promote hedonism and corruption over all and seek to eliminate and silence all who would ever choose otherwise. How sad it is to then see news media knowingly betray the half of the nation who does not agree with them on their love of socialism, and secularism. The pressure to become neo-pagan Europe, and even Greece continues.
We know history enough to see, and we grieve. We know enough truth to truly mourn, and we have enough character to be more than disappointed with those who have betrayed their faith and country. For those who put politics before faith, before freedom, before loving even their smallest neighbor, we are more than grieved, we are heartbroken. We know who we are, what we believe, what America was founded on. One can learn our creed by how we live (who we live for) how we spend our time, how we spend our money, and how we vote. We know who our fellow countrymen and can see they follow a different creed, and we can only pray and hope for a change of heart, of character, and honestly a radical transformation if we would ever continue as a nation. We were betrayed by the corrupt voters who not only have no idea why we are even disappointed, they don't understand a different perspective from their own. They are unable and unwilling to think outside their small box. They make their claims and superficial observations over what they think divides us, but in the end we know the difference, and our grandparents knew too. It runs deep to the soul, and it means more than the moment we live in. I know my grandparents watch on in disbelief, in sadness too. We press on, with belief and with sadness, and with newfound conviction that no matter what happens around us, or how brokenhearted we may be for our country, we will remain faithful, above all else.
