Summer Baseball for Joseph

It's been a steady, slow process of drills, practice, of how to throw a pitch, of toughing it out and learning to handle pressure...the making of a pitcher didn't happen overnight, but somehow it happened this spring. We now have a focused, hard throwing boy who pitched his first big league game as a starter. He made it through well and also started hitting. It's quite amazing to watch you son improve right before your eyes. Amazing for the Mom, and a special joy for Dad who has coached him along. Hard work and sweat do pay off, and sometimes it shows.

For a son who is not a natural athlete, to excel at this stage and be able to compete for a season is really the product of a lot of sweat and tears. Sports can build character, and in this case there's no doubt perseverance and toughness are qualities that have come through the effort required to learn to pitch, and hit and run in the game of baseball.

This is not our son, but what a great shot of the action of a game.

Learning to slide and eat a little dirt, all part of the game...of baseball and life.
